Green Buildings

Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) is a rating system for the design, construction and operation of high-performance buildings and developments, created by the United States Green Building Council (USGBC). In 2011, the University had pledged to construct all new buildings to LEED Silver standards. As of 2019, UNCG has 19 LEED certified buildings on campus, with our 20th (the Nursing Building) under construction. LEED certified buildings amount to 24% of UNCG's total gross square footage.
