Peabody Park Ivy Pull
Every semester, the Peabody Park Preservation Committee needs volunteers to help restore the native habitat of the Peabody Park woods on campus. We need your help removing invasive species like English Ivy and Bush Honeysuckle. We also need help collecting litter from the creek on the Northwest corner of campus. We can’t have too many people! There will be work for everyone! We can confirm service hours on GivePulse.
This event is only open to UNCG staff, faculty, students, and alumni. Meet us at noon, under the pedestrian bridge in the park, near the Music Building.
The mission of the Preservation Committee is to 1) preserve and maintain Peabody Park Woods as a natural mixed hardwood forest characterized by species native to the piedmont of North Carolina, 2) re-establish and maintain the fire-adapted Piedmont Prairie community of rare native wildflowers, grasses, and fauna dependent upon them, 3) educate the UNCG community about species conservation, and 4) oversee our annual re-certification of the Arbor Day Foundation’s Tree Campus Higher Education program.
